Hi! I’m Camilla Strand, a Brisbane-based creative driven by my passions for peace, art, and love. I believe art has the power to create change, and through my work, I aim to tell my stories, share my beliefs, and spark conversations.
I began my creative journey straight out of high school, starting with fashion design before moving into hobby photography. Capturing alternative models through my lens sparked a deep love for visual expression. Over time, I expanded my creative outlets, venturing into painting and even selling a piece of my own artwork. Then, in my early 30s, I took a leap into the world of music, learning piano at age 33, and diving into music production at 35 with my music project Vargil.
Along the way, I also explored music journalism, interviewing bands like The Sisters of Mercy, Therion, and Epica, while also getting my own music featured on radio stations across Australia, the UK, and Germany.
When it comes to my personal style, you’ll almost always find me dressed in all black, with rainbows painted in my heart. At the core of everything I create—whether it’s music, fashion, design, or art—are my values of freedom, creativity, and love. I aim to make designs and music that tell a story, make a statement, and invite reflection.
My work also reflects my commitment to women’s rights. I’ve collaborated with various women’s organizations to create materials like flyers, sound design, and educational videos. I’ve even been featured on Vice as part of the International Women’s Day strikes, sharing my perspective on the importance of women’s voices in the arts and beyond.
I create with the belief that art can be a tool for revolution, a voice for the voiceless, and a force for change. I am here to challenge, inspire, and empower, using every medium I touch to break boundaries and create something truly transformative.
